The new “Skills for Success®—College Readiness Program” is a high-impact educational opportunity that focuses on developing key academic and 21st-century skills that inspire critical thinking and problem solving. Thirty-two bright high-school students in grades 9 to 12 were selected from government schools to participate in the program, which will continue until April 2018.

AMIDEAST has proudly partnered with the Kuwait Ministry of Education to identify and select students who will benefit most from this program and to ensure the participation of a broad spectrum of students from across Kuwait’s various educational districts. By supporting the program, Boeing reinforces its commitment to Kuwait’s community.

Ms. Samar Khleif, AMIDEAST’s country director for Kuwait, hosted U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Patricia L. Fietz; Ms. Roula Droubi, The Boeing Company’s Regional Director for Government, Industrial and Community Engagement for the MENA Region; and Ms. Susan AlBashiti, General Supervisor for English Language Teaching at the Ministry of Education, at today’s inauguration of the course.

“Boeing is happy and proud to be supporting these young and talented Kuwaiti students. Thanks to this program, they will be equipped with the academic skills, and more importantly, the confidence to proactively secure better opportunities in the immediate future and ensure success in the long-term in both their educational and professional lives,” said Bernard Dunn, president of Boeing Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.

“AMIDEAST is proud to have partnered with Boeing and the Ministry of Education to be able to provide critical thinking and academic skills to Kuwaiti youth who are looking ahead to their future at universities and beyond. Thanks to the wonderful support provided by Boeing, these students will benefit from training that will positively impact their academic opportunities and future professional growth,” said Ms. Khleif, country director for AMIDEAST/Kuwait.

Ms. Fietz of the U.S. Embassy said, “The U.S. Embassy applauds the Ministry of Education, The Boeing Company, and AMIDEAST for their continued support for the teaching of English and their efforts to ensure that Kuwaiti students have the skills they need to succeed.  By supporting this course, Boeing has demonstrated an exemplary sense of corporate responsibility and civic engagement.  It is helping prepare public school students to succeed in their studies and prepare them for the competitive academic environment they will face at the university level, particularly if they choose to study in the Unites States. We further applaud the mission of this program to ensure academic and professional success in order to have these students contribute to Kuwait’s development.”

The Ministry of Education also noted that this is one of many programs that the MOE is keen on participating in to empower our students with English Language Skills and proficiencies.
